U21Global Celebrates Its Graduating Students

Graduate school announces third cohort of graduates from over 29 countries

U21global Graduation 2009

Singapore, July 31, 2009 - U21Global, the world's premier online Graduate School, announced its third cohort of graduates today. A ceremony was held in Singapore on 20th June and in Bangalore on 26th June to mark the graduation of 243 students. The graduating class consists of working executives from 29 countries including Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and United States.

Extracted from the congratulatory message to the graduates from Professor Sir Colin Campbell, Chairman of the U21Global Board said, "It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you on gaining your U21Global degree. I know that the education that has been provided towards this degree will stand you in good stead in your future career. Successfully completing a degree is, in itself, worthy of celebration, considering the enormous amount of time and effort that you have spent in studying hard, often late into the night. But, a degree featuring the crests of some of the leading universities around the world is very special, as it provides clear evidence to employers and colleagues of the quality of the education provided. It is unusual today to see a degree from a consortium of universities, rather than from a single university. The U21 consortium of research-based universities is pioneering a new approach to tertiary education, and many universities and accreditation bodies around the world are looking at U21Global to set the standards for those that may follow."

Nick Hutton, CEO of U21Global, felt that this was indeed a day of jubilation for both the university and the graduates, "This pioneering effort of our students is one of the major reasons why U21Global is growing so rapidly - and our growth means a greater acceptance and recognition of their achievement. We have now enrolled over 6,500 students across 72 countries - quite an accomplishment in such a short space of time since we enrolled our first student. In addition many large corporations are now entrusting their management development training requirements to U21Global sending employers a strong message about the value that an achievement with U21Global stands for."

Each year, a committee of senior academics at U21Global evaluates the best-performing graduates to determine if any of them warrant the prestigious Academic Excellence Award, the highest honour for graduating students. This year, four students were chosen from the graduating class to receive the Academic Excellence Award.

Master of Business Administration
David Newton Studden (Qatar)
Tan Yong Liang (Singapore)
Yeo Siew Yam (Singapore)

Master of Management in Information Technology
Pinky Kaul (Hong Kong)

Dr Wing Lam, Dean of U21Global explained, "U21Global's academic excellence award recognises graduates not only for their outstanding grades, but also for demonstrating great promise and potential for global leadership. They represent the industry captains of the future."

When asked how he felt about winning the award, Mr David Newton Studden shared, "I feel proud for receiving not only the award, but also for completing my MBA. The award has a place of pride in my living room and each time I look at it brings back memories of late nights, great discussions, project deadlines - all good memories which the award made worth while."

Also debuted at the events is the announcement of the Network Chapters for students and alumni. "Networking" and "communication"are the buzzwords. Aimed to provide students with an avenue to harness the opportunity to network with the U21Global student community, the U21Global Network was established. "The network provides networking opportunities for current students and alumni at regional, national and international levels. It is also a platform for students and alumni to engage with faculty and the university. We hope that through the network, we can also support, complement and add value to the U21Global student experience." said Dr Jason Fitzsimmons, Director of MBA programmes and Alumni Relations Office.
