Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU)

Beijing Foreign Studies University is a key university under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. It has the longest history among universities of its kind in China, and offers a complete range of degrees, diplomas and programs at various levels, and the largest number of foreign language programs in the country. Among its over 7,000 registered students, there are around 5,000 international students. In June 2001, BFSU?s 10th Five Year Plan programs and its 211 Project programs were reviewed and accepted by the Ministry of Education, after which it became one of the 100 key universities entitled to special development funding from the Central Government in the 21st century. Over the past 60 years, BFSU has educated over 60,000 talented foreign languages students, and hence has evolved into an important training base for diplomacy; foreign trade; finance; translation; journalism; culture, and education.

BFSU takes pride in its permanent and contracted high calibre academic members in the many faculties and age groups. Among its permanent teaching and administrative staff of over 1,400, there are more than 600 faculty members, over 300 of whom are professors and associate professors, and over 200 assistant professors. The University also employs more than 110 foreign experts and instructors every year.

BFSU was authorized by the Ministry Of Education, China to establish the Institute of Online Education, BFSU (BeiwaiOnline) in 2000.

BeiwaiOnline which offers BFSU language programs online,has superior expertise in delivering online language education, and has become one of the largest online educational institutes in China, with highly efficient and effective teaching and administration systems, diverse educational projects, comprehensive learning resources, use of advance technology. It has received multiple awards for its programs. The institute is advancing on its goal of making BFSU the best in China, and a first-class institution in the world of online language education.

- U21Global and BFSU are committed to explore joint-research opportunities to further enhance our academic knowledge, in particular, the areas of globalised higher education, and academically-sound online pedagogy. U21Global will facilitate other research opportunities with the U21 network of universities as and when appropriate.
