Singapore, 19 January 2010 - U21Global has announced that it is embarking on a new chapter in its evolution. This phase will have U21Global working even more closely with four partner universities - the University of Birmingham, the University of Melbourne, the University of Nottingham and the University of Virginia. The partnership will see increased depth and synergy, resulting in a more meaningful and rigorous collaboration.
With the revised structure, students can expect new quality programmes and enhancements, based on the strictest quality assurance that will better prepare them for careers in a borderless world economy. The quality of all U21Global programmes will be assured through an Academic Senate that includes senior academics from the four partner universities. The Academic Senate will apply rigorous academic judgment and expertise to ensure that the quality of the programmes meet the high standards set by each partner university.
Continuing to be a joint venture between Universitas 21 and Manipal Universal Learning International, U21Global will benefit from the universities' global perspectives and knowledge as well as Manipal Education's vast experience in areas of technology, infrastructure & resources and market understanding & expertise to further the growth of its foray into the global market place.
Nick Hutton, CEO of U21Global said, "Having worked over the last 12 months to put in place a fine-tuned academic and organisational infrastructure, we are very excited about the deeper collaboration with our four partner universities in creating more vibrant sparks to fuel the education journey for our students. We believe that this venture will further entrench the institution as the premier online graduate school, continuing the academic pedigree and integrity for which U21Global is known for."
U21Global's MBA programme is internationally accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) with the teChnology-Enhanced Learning (CEL) accreditation, which aims to set the standard for technology-enhanced learning programmes worldwide. U21Global is also in the process of seeking accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) of which it is already an international member.
"The University of Melbourne looks forward to collaborating with the other three partner universities and Manipal Education on the delivery of innovative, high quality education opportunities through U21Global. Having been involved with U21Global since day one, we have gained significant experience about the capabilities of online learning, and these insights will guide us in our future involvement in U21Global." Ian Marshman, Senior Vice-Principal, The University of Melbourne said.
"We are positive that Manipal Education's vast experience in the areas of technology, infrastructure & resources and market understanding & expertise will bring even greater support to U21Global, offering students a richer education experience," said Anand Sudarshan, CEO and MD of Manipal Education.
"It has been a rewarding education experience so far as U21Global's programmes offer a unique global perspective, enabling me to garner practical insights into business and leadership practices across different cultures, which are most useful for my career growth. To hear of U21Global's closer involvement with the four partner universities is heartening as these are esteemed and prominent universities - I am positive the enhanced relationship will bring much value to students, both current and new," said Samuel Schwarz, a U21Global Master of Management in Information Technology graduate who is currently pursuing a second degree, a Master of Business Administration, with the graduate school.
U21Global has achieved its academic and financial goals for 2009 and is well set to continue this business success for the long haul. "We continue to be a robust academic institution with over 7,500 students and alumni from 72 countries and a student retention rate of 90%, an accomplishment we are most proud of given that *online MBA students are 6 times more likely to drop out than on-campus MBA students," added Hutton.
*Key finding from 2008 study "A Comparative Study of Factors Related to Persistence and Attrition in Online and Campus-based Master's Degree Programs" conducted by Belinda Patterson, EdD, Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies, East Carolina University.
