Sir Colin Campbell has been Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham since 1988. After graduating with First Class Honours in Law from the University of Aberdeen, he held appointments at the Universities of Dundee and Edinburgh. He became Professor of Jurisprudence in The Queen's University of Belfast in 1974. Whilst at Queen's University he served as Dean of the Faculty of Law and was a Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
Sir Colin has served on a variety of public bodies. He is a former member of the University Grants Committee, a former Vice Chairman of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals and a former member of the Board of the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
He chaired the Northern Ireland Economic Council (1987-1994), the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (1990-1994), the Human Genetics Advisory Committee (1996-1999), the Medical Workforce Standing Advisory Committee (1991-2001) and the Food Advisory Committee (1994-2001). In 1999 Sir Colin was appointed to the Board of Swiss Re. In 2001 he was appointed Her Majesty's First Commissioner for Judicial Appointments.
Sir Colin was knighted in 1994 and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire in 1996. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws by Aberdeen University in 2001.
Dr Mukesh Aghi

Mukesh Aghi was formerly Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of U21Global since the graduate school's inception in 2001. Dr Aghi's leadership experience includes the successful establishment of technology group Ariba, Inc., in the Asia Pacific region - he subsequently led the company's international operations from California. Dr Aghi's credentials also include serving as President of IBM India, where he tripled annual revenue. He was also responsible for managing strategic outsourcing for IBM out of Singapore. Prior to joining IBM, Dr Aghi was Managing Director with overall responsibility for growth in the Asia Pacific region at software company JD Edwards, based in the US, Europe and Japan. He was able to inspire and direct innovation, alliances and build marketing and sales efforts in order to grow direct and indirect revenue. He has also served as a senior fellow in the US House of Representatives.
Dr Aghi has a PhD in International Relations from the Claremont Graduate University, California and an MBA in International Marketing from Andrews University, Michigan. He received his Bachelor's degree from Middle East College in Beirut, Lebanon. Dr Aghi was recognised as an Esquire magazine “Young Leader of Tomorrow” and has since received the Star of India and Asian Leader awards.
John T. Casteen III

John Casteen has been President of the University of Virginia since 1990. He has overseen a major restructuring of the university's administrative and governance structures, one of the largest capital funds campaigns ever undertaken, significant improvements in academic programs, and major expansion of the facilities. Prior to this, he was President of the University of Connecticut in 1985-1990.
Besides being a member of the Board of Directors of U21Global, Mr Casteen also serves as Chair of Universitas 21. He is currently a director of the Wachovia Corporation and a member of its audit and compliance committee. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors of Sage Publications, and a member and Chair of the Jefferson Science Associates, LLC. In 2000-2002, he chaired the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). He recently completed a term as Chair of the Association of American Universities (AAU) and is currently a member of the AAU's Institutional Data Committee.
Mr Casteen had held various positions, including Director of the American Council on Education and Trustee and Chair of the College Entrance Examination Board. He was also a member of the Board of Control for the Southern Regional Education Board, Commissioner of the New England Board of Higher Education, and Chair of the Association of Governing Board's council of presidents. His business career included service as Director of Connecticut Bank and Trust Company (1986-1989) and Director of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Connecticut, Inc. (1989-1990).
He has received many accolades and awards such as doctor honoris causa (1996) from the University of Athens, outstanding alumnus of the year (1998) from the University of Virginia and the Gold Medal from the National Institute of Social Sciences (1998). In 2002, Mr Casteen was selected as the inaugural recipient of the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention's Presidents Leadership Group Award. He was also the recipient recipient of the Architecture Medal for Virginia Service in 2004.
Mr Casteen writes short fiction as well as essays and papers in medieval literature, bibliography and public policy. He received the 1987 Mishima Award (fiction) for his collection of short stories. He holds three degrees in English from the University of Virginia.
Ian Marshman

University of Melbourne
Ian Marshman was appointed senior vice-principal at the University of Melbourne in 1999, where he is responsible for the management of the university's annual planning, budgeting, reporting and quality assurance programmes. He also oversees the audit, compliance and external reporting accountabilities. Mr Marshman joined the ranks of the University of Melbourne's senior management team in 1990 when he was appointed Registrar (Academic). Over the years, he has played major roles in the reform of the university's administration, implementation of new administrative systems and processes, development of the Melbourne Scholarships programme and significant expansion of support services for students.
Mr Marshman's experience in the Australian Public Service is just as impressive. He has served in various appointments in a variety of Commonwealth departments. In 1986, Mr Marshman was appointed regional director in the North Eastern Metropolitan Region of the then Victorian Health Department, where he exercised major planning, financial management and accountability responsibilities in respect of a region with a budget of A$500 million and a population of 1.1 million people. Mr Marshman is currently Chair of the Management Committee for Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre and Director on the Melbourne University Pty Ltd Board. He is an auditor for the recently-established Australian Universities Quality Agency.
Dr Ranjan Pai

As the CEO of Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), Dr Pai's focus is on new business initiatives. He was previously responsible for setting up the corporate entity in charge of the administration of new and existing hospitals as well as the education institutions under the group.
A medical graduate of the Kasturba Medical College, Dr Pai has studied Hospital Administration in the US. Being well-versed in healthcare administration and medical education, he has a comprehensive understanding of the functions of large healthcare centres and medical schools.
Dr Pai is responsible for conceptualising the Melaka-Manipal Medical College (MMMC) in Malaysia to be a world-class international medical college. This has firmly established Manipal as a key player in the global arena and this accomplishment is a shining testimony to his expertise. Dr Pai is currently focusing on the education and healthcare programmes in countries including the UK and the US. He has also set his sights on restructuring major healthcare institutions in India.
Mr Anand Sudarshan

Based in Bangalore, Anand Sudarshan is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Manipal Education, a leading player in education and healthcare in India.
Prior to his current position, Mr Sudarshan was President, Adea International (a wholly owned subsidiary of Adea Solutions, Inc) and was responsible for all global businesses outside of the US. He took on this position after successfully leading Netkraft Pte Limited as CEO to a merger with Adea Solutions, Inc. in 2004. At Netkraft, Mr Sudarshan was instrumental in turning the company around and leading it to profitability in the very first year under his watch.
In 1989, Mr Sudarshan co-founded The Microland Group and for about 14 years, he was involved in building it to become a leading privately held technology company. As CEO, he was responsible for defining the strategy and technology roadmap of the group, establishing the infrastructure and services business, and managing its software company. Mr Sudarshan has extensive industry experience, having served also in several capacities at Computer Point India Limited, and Nelco, a Tata Group company.
Mr Sudarshan is a highly sought after speaker at industry and technical events in Asia, Europe North Africa and the US. He was a contributing author at leading trade publications and was named as one of the top ten stars in the Indian IT industry by Dataquest. He is also a lead assessor and jury member in quality initiatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), including the prestigious CII-EXIM Award for Business Excellence, the Indian equivalent of the Malcolm Baldridge Award.
Over the last two decades, Mr Sudarshan has remained committed to education. Before moving into the sector full-time, he has served on governing bodies of educational institutions, with particular focus on taking higher education beyond metropolitan cities to other parts of India.
Mr Sudarshan has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Trichy, University of Madras (formerly known as the Regional Engineering College, Trichy), and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
